DEITIES SERIES
“Huitzilopochtli. ”
DEITIES / Mythological entities.
This piece is part of a series exploring mythological entities through a contemporary lens, shaped by my own vision of a Mexican-cyberpunk aesthetic. This is how I imagine Huitzilopochtli — the Mexica solar deity and symbol of the universal warrior.
According to myth, he’s born fully armed, wielding a weapon described as a “serpent of fire.” To me, that sounds more like a plasma blade — a lightsaber — than a literal serpent. He doesn’t fight with weapons… he is the weapon.
He’s associated with hummingbirds — tradition says that fallen warriors return as these birds — but I also see hummingbirds as natural drones that follow this deity. Living traces of his solar energy.
His blue skin appears in other cultures too. It’s not decorative — it’s a sign:
– He is Ra in warrior form.
– He is the Archangel Michael, if you read the Bible as a narrative of stellar control.
– He is Susanoo, viewed through the lens of ancient Japan’s solar system.
– He is Krishna, if you understand blue skin as a reflection of interdimensional energy.
– And he is also Kartikeya, the Hindu war god born to defeat demonic forces, riding a bird… just like Huitzilopochtli.
Sometimes I wonder if all these entities are actually the same being — fragmented across cultures and time. A single consciousness, manifesting through different names, bodies, and symbols.
