I’ve always thought of mythology as emotional technology disguised as storytelling — and that what we now call “legend” may once have been a form of symbolic containment for something that couldn’t be understood.

In this piece, Hannya is neither demon nor wounded woman — she is an interface. Skin worn as mask.
A horned shadow rises behind her, as if something — or someone — an entity, an alternate version, an emotion — hasn’t quite finished emerging.

The body holds signs.
Some are drawn from ancient mythologies.
Others come from our new, contemporary myths.

What’s adorable can be lethal.
And what’s lethal may simply be evolving.
